Welcome to Greenroom

Greenroom is a one-stop aggregator, index or directory for Queensland professional and independent theatre.  Like a greenroom in a theatre, it is also a place to share opinion and news.  Thanks for stopping by; why don’t you have a look around while you’re here.  This is how Greenroom works.

This nav bar (above) has links out to various sites.  By the way, those sliding images in the ‘featured content gallery’ up there in the header are links to some of my own theatre-related posts on the blog Groundling. Click on any of these images, and you’ll be taken to the post. If you’re that way inclined, add your 2c worth, and get engaged in conversation with me or others who care for theatre as much as you do.

A listing of theatre venues and performing spaces is here.
… with a link to a calendar of what’s on and about to be on in Queensland. We’ll try to keep up, but send us details anyway for inclusion. You can subscribe to this Calendar too. Hit the little RSS button – it’s the logo that looks like this Click on this to subscribe, and you can keep up with what’s happening on your desktop or your mobile phone’s calendar. Handy, eh? We like this feature.

We’ve also added a listing of support and development agencies and producers here.

A live-feed to theatre-related blogs is over in the sidebar under the heading ‘Live Feed: Blogs and Bloggers,’ As  soon as one of the external site blogs updates its content, it will appear here on Greenroom. Of course, we’re looking out for new blogs all the time. Please let us know of any that you think would fit well here in the Greenroom.

You’ll find a link to Greenroom’s own blog in the nav bar too. It’s the one labelled ‘Blog’. Surprising eh? Why not subscribe and never miss a post. These will consist of interviews and commentary, as well as review indices of Queensland-created theatre productions.

Other theatre-related websites without an RSS feed i.e., static sites, or Facebook fan sites?  They’ll be here too in a growing collection – click on the ‘Queensland Theatre Websites’ tab in the nav bar.

We’ve created a TwitterGroup called Queensland Theatre. Add yourself, spread the word and follow others on the list as it grows. It’s not meant to be yet another social networking site, but a reference directory of Queensland theatre Twitter users. Use the hashtag #qldtheatre to tag your tweets if appropriate.  This makes it easy to search for Queensland theatre-related items.

Micro-blogging is a way many theatre practitioners and groups choose to stay in touch, make new contacts, share items of interest, or promote their work. Typical is the huge Facebook. However, Greenroom is not creating another group or fan page – there are only so many groups or apps that you can manage in your busy life.  We’re hoping our Twitter feed, the hashtagged group, as well as this site will introduce you to other Queensland theatre-lovers. You can then choose to share information around on the social network of your choice.

Like to share theatre-related images or videos? Check out the Queensland Theatre Flickr Group. You’ll see some of the latest images added to the pool at the bottom of each page. And if you have a promo video for a show, put it up on YouTube or Vimeo and send us the link. We’ll give it some airplay here.
