Welcome to Greenroom

This is Greenroom, a one-stop aggregator, index or directory for Queensland professional and independent theatre. Like a greenroom, it is also a place to share opinion and news.

Thanks for stopping by; why don’t you have a look around while you’re here. This post will tell you how Greenroom works.

So, this is what you will find on Groundling:

Information Calendar Information on professional and established independent theatre companies around the state: links to their websites … here.
A listing of theatre venues and performing spaces is here.
… with a link to a calendar of what’s on and about to be on in Queensland. We’ll try to keep up, but send us details anyway for inclusion. You can subscribe to this Calendar too. Hit the little RSS button – it’s the logo that looks like this Click on this to subscribe, and you can keep up with what’s happening on your desktop or your mobile phone’s calendar. Handy, eh? We like this feature.

We’ve also added a listing of support and development agencies and producers here.

rssA live-feed to theatre-related blogs is over in the sidebar under the heading ‘Live Feed: Blogs and Bloggers,’ As soon as one of the external site blogs updates its content, it will appear here on Greenroom. Of course, we’re looking out for new blogs all the time. Please let us know of any that you think would fit well here in the Greenroom.  Greenroom’s own blogposts are automatically posted on the homepage.  If you would like to stay up to date, consider subscribing by hitting the orange subscribe button on the front page.

Other theatre-related websites without an RSS feed i.e., static sites, or Facebook fan sites? They’ll be here too in a growing collection – click on the ‘Queensland Theatre Websites’ tab in the nav bar.

twitterFacebookDo you have a Twitter or a Facebook account? So do lots of other Queensland companies, groups, and individuals. Greenroom does too. Follow us on Twitter @greenroomQ . When you post on Twitter, use the hashtag #qldtheatre to tag your tweets if appropriate. This makes it easy to search for Queensland theatre-related items.

Micro-blogging is a way many theatre practitioners and groups choose to stay in touch, make new contacts, share items of interest, or promote their work. Typical is the huge Facebook. You can find links to Queensland theatre Facebook pages and groups here.  If you’d like to add your group, let us know.

And if you have a promo video for a show, put it up on YouTube or Vimeo and send us the link. We’ll give it some airplay here.

This site will get better with participation. If we’ve left out anyone … and we’re pretty sure this site isn’t anywhere near complete yet, let us know. Head to the Contact page and fill us in. Send us details of your production, your websites, whatever you feel is appropriate to be included in Greenroom.

CoffeeCup_Feed … and if you don’t want to miss another post or update on Greenroom, consider subscribing. Hit any one of the orange RSS feed buttons you’ll see on this site, and stay in touch via a feed reader like Google Reader.

… and one last thing … we’d love it if you would help spread the word about Greenroom in your own social networks. You could start by hitting the Share This or Buzz buttons below. Thanks!

We look forward to seeing you back here … and more importantly in a theatre … very soon!
